Learning to Garden: It is Easier Than You Think

I used to pull into my driveway after work every day and wish I had beautiful flowers growing in my yard, like many of my neighbors. My parents didn't garden when I was a child, and I thought it was a talent that just didn't run in my family. I decided "what the heck?" one day and started researching gardening tips. I learned how to plant the right flowers in the right places, so they get just enough sunlight. I also learned a lot along my gardening journey, and I now have a beautiful yard filled with flowers that I planted myself! I decided that I wanted to create a blog that helps everyone realize that they can have the yard of their dreams. I hope you learn a lot here that helps you finally have a yard that you love!

Items You Should Upgrade When Renovating Your Bathroom

When you are enhancing the look of your bathroom, it is easy to focus solely on the design aspects. However, during this process, you also need to consider the items in your bathroom that require an upgrade as well. In many cases, these upgrades will improve both the safety and comfort for your new bathroom design.

Upgrade Electrical Outlets

When you plan to make modifications to the light fixtures in your bathroom, you have to upgrade the electrical as well. In many areas, the outlets need to reflect current electrical codes when you remove or replace light switches or fixtures within the space.

The most important upgrade is changing your 120-volt outlets to ground-fault circuit irrupted (GFCI) outlets. GFCI products protect your electrical system should water encounter the outlet or the amount of electricity increase unexpectedly. If this should happen, the GFCI outlet will shut off the electricity to that portion of your home, so an electrical accident is less likely to occur.

Replace Fan

Another change you should make to your bathroom is to upgrade the fan. Newer fans have the ability to remove more moisture from the space, which reduces the amount of mildew that can grow on the surfaces throughout the bathroom. This is especially important for bathrooms that have two person showers or Jacuzzi tubs that produce a lot of steam.

The idea is to have a fan that circulates the air and removes moisture for the size of your bathroom. The biggest mistake some homeowners make is that they purchase and install one that is too small. To avoid this issue, you need to check the square footage for the fan you prefer, because this information will tell you if the fan will work efficiently in your bathroom.

Anti-Scold Water Fixtures

When you have children in your home, you want additional safety features around any source of water. For this reason, anti-scold water fixtures are a good choice when you are renovating your bathroom.

Anti-scold water fixtures come in several different models, though one good option is a thermostatic mixing valve. This type of valve mixes hot and cold water in a separate chamber before it leaves the sink faucet or shower head. The main purpose of the valve is to prevent water temperature fluctuations that happen so that you or your children are not accidentally scolded.

Renovating your bathroom is a great way to increase the comfort of the space. However, during this process, you should also make some upgrades to the electrical and plumbing areas as well. By taking the time to look through the different upgrades, you will have a better understanding of why these changes are needed. If these changes are too much for you to handle yourself, contact an electrician for help.
